Soils
Our team of OSHA certified Managers, Operators and laborers can integrate contaminated soils removal projects to coincide with most construction related activities. While we do perform construction related activity on projects that we design in house we also frequently follow other engineering firms’ plans and specifications. We strive to become an integral member of the team and offer our expertise and problem solving capabilities to recommend alternative strategies on complex projects where the scope or nature of the work cannot be fully established. Our input often results in substantial time and cost savings for the client.

Asbestos and Lead-Based Paint
Asbestos and Lead Paint are building products that were used extensively in many commercial and residential structures and still places a significant burden on the real estate and construction industries. Both materials pose significant health risks when disturbed or handled improperly.
Luzon is licensed by several states to perform abatement of these materials. Often the necessity of this activity was not fully accounted for in construction projects. We are often called on to act quickly to ensure limited interruption to the project and minimize exposure to these materials. Our highly experienced and licensed abatement staff will ensure that your project is completed in strict accordance with State and Federal regulations.

Mold
Until recently mold was largely ignored as an industrial hygiene or health issue. Numerous studies have shown that mold can in fact cause or exacerbate respiratory issues. Our staff uses state of the art containment and decontamination procedures to ensure that the existing mold is fully removed and the factors contributing to its growth are identified and remedied. In the remediation of mold it is critical that the source be identified and eliminated. Our staff has the experience necessary to definitively establish that source and recommend specific remedial action. Be it weatherization, waterproofing or ventilation, our construction experience and capabilities allow us to provide a single source solution for mold related issues.

UST’s — AST’s
Luzon has in house testing and design/build capabilities to locate your tank, determine the extent of possible contamination, establish the scope of work and bring your project to successful completion. We are licensed in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey for storage tank related testing, management and removal and have extensive experience with the regulatory agencies in those states to ensure compliance with all aspects of the regulations. Additionally, we have managed application filing and communication with public and private insurance funds. When a new tank is required we can design and install a system that complies with state and local requirements and meets your specific delivery needs.

Brownfield Revitalization
Many factors have contributed to the limitations experienced with developing open space. From storm water management requirements to community objections, the cost of developing open space has risen substantially making these projects less viable than ever. A result has been that many developers, states and urban communities are finding that redeveloping previously abandoned industrial sites has become more attractive. In many cases state and federal grants can help to offset some of the cost of cleanup activity.
Luzon has extensive experience with urban revitalization projects. Our broad environmental and construction experience allows us to offer a complete package of site reconnaissance options. We have the ability to identify existing hazards and remediate those contaminants. Post environmental cleanup we can demolish existing structures, modify existing or install new utilities and storm water management systems and provide a variety of finished surfaces in preparation for future development. Some of the finished products that we have provided include rain gardens, athletic fields, paved surfaces and rough grade construction ready sites.

Stream Bank Stabilization
Working near waterways requires special care. If not conducted properly contaminants from earth moving projects can find their way into surrounding streams and rivers. Without a systematic site specific approach to controlling the movement of these contaminants serious and in some cases irreversible harm can be caused. We are able to ensure that this will not happen.
Luzon’s project management personnel have broad experience with the design and implementation of soil erosion and stabilization plans. Our staff has completed soil projects immediately adjacent waterways and provided superior protection to ensure they were not impacted. At the completion of those projects we are able to replant the affected areas with native species that will mitigate the potential for future erosion. Selection of those plants is a critical factor to the long term success of the stabilization program. We can identify the appropriate native species with the greatest chance of long term survival and plant those in conjunction with short term ground cover solutions to minimize erosion and restore the surrounding environment as quickly as possible.
